After a two game losing streak and losing 3 of their last 4 games, the Bolton Eagles boys JV Basketball Team travelled to Keene to face the Beavers. In the previous meeting, Bolton came out slow as they were leading by 12 at halftime, but finsished the game ahead by 30. This meeting between the two teams was the same as the first-time around. In the first quarter, Bolton came out firing with their full-court press that created turnover points. Transition points were also key in the game. Sophomore guard Luke Shane scored 11 of his 19 points in the first quarter to lead Bolton in scoring. Freshman guard Ben Gaddy also contributed with 10 points throughout the contest, and was 3-4 from the line. However, the biggest surprise of the night was the breakthrough of Freshman Center Donny Sammis. Sammis has had limited playing time throughout the year, and missed three games as well. But, he used his 6'3" frame to dominate down low. He recorded his first double-double of the season as he netted 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as well as 4 blocks. He was a huge force down low, and he will hopefully have more games like this for the rest of the season. Freshman forward Robbie Chapman chipped in with 2 points, but showed his athleticism on defense and by pulling down rebounds over the huge Keene forwards. Coach Mark Andrekovics was happy with the win, but told his team that they still had to work on the 1-2-2 zone and the offensive sets as the Bolton Eagles routed the Keene Beavers, 47-21 in Keene on Friday, January 20, 2006.
