The Bolton Eagles Boys JV Basketball Team has just come off a big win against Keene after losing 3 of their last 4 games as they got ready to battle the Wildcats of Schroon Lake. This game was like the pre-show to the much anticipated showdown between the varsity squads as each team was first place in their respective division (Schroon Lake won the matchup of the Varsity game). The boys were looking for their first winning streak of the season, and they were in the right setting as well as the Eagles were home for the first time since the end of December, where they lost against North Warren. Bolton started out quick with a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Luke Shane, which set the pace early as Bolton never looked back. Bolton played an intense man defense that forced many turnovers, as they later switched to a full-court press that Schroon Lake could not handle. The press caused easy points in transition for the Ealges, which is what they wanted from the get-go. Freshman guard/forward DJ Dimauro scored a career high 8 points with 6 of them coming off Wilcats' turnovers and transition. 6 of his 8 points came in the first half. Freshman forward Robbie Chapman also played an exceptional game down low. He secured many key rebounds and chipped in with 4 points. Another player with a career high this night was Sophomore guard Cody Kober. Kober scored 14 points in the matchup and helped secure the lead for the Eagles. At the end of the first half, Shane hit a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer to give Bolton the momentum after the first half. Shane finished with 19 points on the night, with 6 of them in the 3rd quarter as the sat out the entire 4th quarter. Bolton never let up their intensity, which coach Mark Andrekjovics said was a vital part of the win for Bolton. Donny Sammis finished with 6 points and Freshman guard Tyler Ganter added a free-throw in the 4th quarter as the Bolton Eagles crushed the Schroon Lake Wildcats, 49-29 on January 27, 2006 in Bolton.
